太陽が東から昇り西へと沈んでいく。秋分の日は、昼と夜が半分ずつになる日です。二十四節気を綴るようになってから、住んでいる人しか知らないこの時期だけの特別な場所があることを知ります。彼岸花や夕日など教えて欲しいと思います。
笠置の巨石
秋分の日を迎える少し前、笠置町在住の佐藤亜弥美さんに案内してもらい、笠置山の中腹に点在する巨石群を見てきました。セキレイに先導されて細い道をぐんぐん上っていくと、まるで雲の中に入っていくようでした。
笠置山にそびえる巨石群は、およそ8千万年前、白亜紀に起きた大規模な火山活動の痕跡だと亜弥美さんは説明してくれました。火山から噴出したマグマや火山灰が、火砕流となって大地を覆い、それが固まってできたのが「濃飛流紋岩（のうひりゅうもんがん）」と呼ばれる岩石だそうです。
この濃飛流紋岩は、笠置山だけでなく、恵那山付近から下呂や飛騨にまで広がる広範囲にわたって見られます。自然が作り出した造形でありながら、まるで古代の記憶を刻んだ語り部のようです。
笠置の巨石をよく見ると、水が流れたような模様を見つけることができます。これは、ドロドロの火砕流が流れながら冷え固まった証拠で、流紋岩の特徴です。はるか太古の火山活動によって形成されたものだと知ると、岩石一つひとつが持つ歴史の重みをより深く感じられます。先祖を想うお彼岸のこの時期に、8千万年という時の流れに想いを馳せるのも良いのではないでしょうか。笠置山には巨石を眺める散策コースもあるので、秋の行楽にも良さそうです。
木漏れ日や霧、そして秋の雨が、少しずつ涼しさを運んできます。8千万年という時を超え、火山という壮大な力によって結ばれた、同じ記憶を持つ岩石たち。そこには、ペトログラフと呼ばれる、先人が刻んだ古代岩刻文字も見られます。この岩石が持つ記憶を誰かが感じとり、また次の誰かに伝えられていくことを願っています。

The Giant Rocks of Kasagi
Ayami explained that the giant rock formations towering over Mount Kasagi are traces of massive volcanic activity that occurred approximately 80 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. Magma and volcanic ash erupted from the volcano formed pyroclastic flows that covered the land. These flows solidified into a rock called “Nohi Rhyolite.”
This Nohi rhyolite is found not only on Mount Kasagi but also across a wide area stretching from near Mount Ena to Gero and Hida. While a natural formation, it seems like a storyteller etching ancient memories.
If you look closely at the giant rocks of Kasagi, you can find patterns resembling flowing water. This is evidence that the viscous pyroclastic flow cooled and solidified as it flowed, a characteristic feature of rhyolite. Kasagiyama also has walking courses where you can view these giant rocks, making it a great spot for autumn outings.

私たちは恵那山のふもとでフリーペーパーを発行している任意団体です。本当の意味で“誰一人取り残されない”のは季節の移り変わりではないでしょうか。また美しい自然から、地域の強みや魅力を教えられているのは、私たちだとも感じています。 心を豊かにするこの地域のひとときを二十四節氣とともに発信。そしてこの地のスタートアップから、インタビューや寄稿を通したコンテンツは、恵那山の頂きより「ヤッホー！」と叫ぶように、多くの人々に届いたらいいなと思っています。
We are a voluntary organization that publishes free papers at the foot of Mt. Ena. Isn't it the change of seasons that truly means that no one is left behind? I also feel that we are the ones who are taught the strengths and charms of the region by the beautiful nature. We will transmit a moment of this region that enriches the mind with 24 seasons. And I hope that the content through interviews and contributions from startups in this area will reach as many people as possible like shouting "Yo-ho!" from the top of Mt. Ena.
