清明 seimei
清明は万物が清らかで生き生きと、明るく輝く季節を指します。ここ恵那山のふもとの地でも、冬の名残を惜しむような冷たい風がようやく和らぎました。ひらひらと舞い落ちる桜の花びらにふと切なさを覚えるのは、この季節がいくつもの「別れ」を連れてくるからかもしれません。慣れ親しんだ場所からの旅立ちや、共に過ごした仲間たちの背中を見送る春。
桜の花びらと入れ替わるように、山々は眩しいほどの萌黄色（もえぎいろ）に包まれます。それはまるで、別れの寂しさを優しく包み込み、これから始まる新しい「出会い」を祝福してくれているかのようです。
おかさげ農園
霊峰・笠置山が静かに見守る中野方（なかのほう）。農薬に頼らず、自然のままの命を育む「おかさげ農園」の大江さんを訪ねました。光に満ちたこの季節、畑に足を踏み入れると、そこには息を呑むような色彩のコントラストが広がっていました。春の柔らかな陽光を透かして輝く春菊の深い緑、そして青菜が放つ、みずみずしい萌黄色。隣の麦畑も風に揺れ、大地全体が春の確かな訪れを喜んでいるようでした。大江さんは、「ソメイヨシノが咲く頃に、じゃがいもの植え付けをして、これから種も蒔ける時期です」。と教えてくれました。
「桜が咲く頃には——」。 農業の現場でも、そして私が親しむ呉服の世界でも、数字の「月日」ではなく、花鳥風月のうつろいを指標にする表現が息づいています。今年は例年より十日も早く桜がほころんだようです。
大江さんとの会話の中で、「生物暦（せいぶつごよみ）」という言葉に出会いました。気象庁も記録しているものですが、そこには「カッコウの初鳴」「キアゲハの初見」といった、動植物たちの細やかな息遣いが記されています。恵那山のふもとで暮らす私たちの日常には、こうした無数の「初めまして」が溢れています。自然界の微かなサインを読み取り、季節の解像度を上げていくこと。それは、私達の内にある豊かな感性を育み、人生を彩る「アート」そのものではないでしょうか。
Clear and Bright
The Clear and Bright Festival marks a season when all things are pure, vibrant, and radiant. Here at the foot of Mount Ena, the cold winds that seemed to linger on from winter have finally begun to ease.
Okasage Farm
In Nakanoho, quietly watched over by the sacred Mount Kasagi, I visited Mr. Oe of “Okasage Farm,” where life is nurtured naturally without relying on pesticides. The deep green of the chrysanthemum greens and the fresh, vibrant yellow-green of the leafy greens. The neighboring wheat field swayed in the breeze, seeming to rejoice at the certain arrival of spring.
“By the time the cherry blossoms bloom—” Both in the world of agriculture and in the world of kimono, which I am familiar with, expressions that use the changing seasons—flowers, birds, wind, and moon—as indicators, rather than specific dates, are still very much alive. It seems the cherry blossoms have bloomed about ten days earlier than usual this year.
During my conversation with Mr. Oe, I came across the term “seibutsu-goyomi” (natural calendar). It records the subtle rhythms of flora and fauna, such as “the first call of the cuckoo” and “the first sighting of the swallowtail butterfly.” Isn’t this the very “art” that enriches our lives?
