小暑 shousho
小さく暑いと書いて小暑。夏の本格的な始まりを告げる節気がやってきました。恵那山麓の田畑の緑は一段と濃さを増し、空には夏雲がゆっくりと広がります。日中にはじりじりとした陽射しが降りそそぎ、夕暮れには涼風、そして夜空を渡る星の下で蛍が飛び交っています。
織姫と七夕
今年の小暑は、五節句のひとつである七夕と重なりました。「笹の葉さらさら」と歌われる笹竹がまっすぐ天を目指す姿には、「願いが天に届きますように」という祈りが込められています。織姫が織る布は五色に輝き、それを見る人々に幸せをもたらしたとも伝えられています。
小暑を迎える頃、私たちは三郷町にある【あんじゃないの家】を訪れました。「あんじゃない」は「案ずることはないよ」という意味でこの辺りの方言です。ここは、三郷町まちづくり委員会の取り組みから生まれた、地域の記憶と未来をつなぐ場です。築百年以上の旧お蚕農家を再生したこの家には、各地から寄贈された手織り機が並び、かつての暮らしの知恵が今も息づいています。
機織り機をはじめとする古道具には、壊れた箇所や足りない部品を修理しながら、物を生かし続けようとする人々の工夫とまなざしが宿っていました。地域ごとに形の異なる道具にも、土地の個性が見受けられます。
恵那山麓にも、かつて機織りの歴史がありました。冬の農閑期には糸を紡ぎ、「トントン」と機を踏む音が家の中に響いていたのかもしれません。ここでは、季節の植物で糸を染めており、それぞれの織り目は、願いや記憶、そして季節の手ざわりが織り込まれていきます。
たて糸とよこ糸では、たて糸の色がより強く濃く見えると講師の方から教わります。着物は世界最古の民族衣装ともいわれます。日本の纏う布にはこれほどの知恵と技術が詰まっていることを、知れば知るほどに深い感銘を受けます。自然とともにある暮らしの糸を紡ぎながら、私たちはこれからの物語を日々織り続けていくのだと思いました。
Shōsho — Lesser Heat
Shōsho, literally meaning “small heat,” marks the beginning of true summer in the traditional 24 solar terms. In the foothills of Mt. Ena, the greens of the fields and paddies deepen, and summer clouds slowly spread across the sky. During the day, the sun beats down intensely, while in the evening a cool breeze begins to blow, and under a starlit sky, fireflies dance in the night air.
Orihime and Tanabata
This year, Shōsho coincided with Tanabata, one of the five seasonal festivals (gosekku). The bamboo leaves in the traditional Tanabata song rustle gently — “sasa no ha sarasara” — and the bamboo's straight growth toward the sky is seen as a symbol of prayers reaching the heavens.
Around the time of Shōsho, we visited a place called Anjanai House in Misato Town. Anjanai is a local dialect phrase meaning “Don’t worry.” The house, born from a community revitalization initiative by the Misato Town Planning Committee, serves as a place that connects the memories of the region with its future. It is a beautifully restored former silkworm farmhouse over a hundred years old, now filled with handlooms donated from around the country — a space where the wisdom of traditional life still breathes.
We learned from an instructor that in weaving, the color of the warp thread stands out more strongly than the weft. The kimono, it is said, may be the oldest form of traditional ethnic clothing in the world. The more we learn about the deep knowledge and refined techniques woven into Japanese fabric, the more deeply moved we become.
ゑなの結とは
私たちは恵那山のふもとでフリーペーパーを発行している任意団体です。本当の意味で“誰一人取り残されない”のは季節の移り変わりではないでしょうか。また美しい自然から、地域の強みや魅力を教えられているのは、私たちだとも感じています。 心を豊かにするこの地域のひとときを二十四節氣とともに発信。そしてこの地のスタートアップから、インタビューや寄稿を通したコンテンツは、恵那山の頂きより「ヤッホー！」と叫ぶように、多くの人々に届いたらいいなと思っています。
We are a voluntary organization that publishes free papers at the foot of Mt. Ena. Isn't it the change of seasons that truly means that no one is left behind? I also feel that we are the ones who are taught the strengths and charms of the region by the beautiful nature. We will transmit a moment of this region that enriches the mind with 24 seasons. And I hope that the content through interviews and contributions from startups in this area will reach as many people as possible like shouting "Yo-ho!" from the top of Mt. Ena.
